Northumberland is a county of outstanding beauty - its coastline is rugged and unspoilt, the beaches stretch for miles, making a wonderful play area for children and for the more energetic a long leisurely beach walk.The country areas are breathtaking with delightful villages dotted into the landscape.Seahouses is an ideal base for touring this beautiful countryside and within easy driving range are the castles of Alnwick and Bamburgh:Alnwick also has the famous water gardens. On the outskirts of Rothbury is Cragside the first house in the world to be run by hydroelectricity which has a fascinating house and gardens. The National Trust seal and bird sanctuary on the Farne Islands is a boat ride from the harbour at Seahouses.Holy Island the home of St Aidan is a place of interest to visit - but do check the times of the tides with the local tourist information centre - do not be caught on the causeway.

Seahouses is a small fishing village on this beautiful coastline and has a small fleet of boats bringing in fresh fish which is available in its many fish and chip shops.There are pubs and tea rooms and also a selection of general shops.Puffins Nest is a short walk to the beaches and the main village area.A golf course is a short walk from the cottage.Tenants of Puffins Nest can use The Ocean Club, giving you access to the pool, gym and beauty facilities at specials rates.
